People are super sceptical a series based on the the Sex Pistols, Pistol, will be on Disney+ as they’re just not sure the two mix.
Yesterday, Tuesday March 29, Disney+ announced FX’s Pistol – the limited series about the legendary Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones – will premiere Tuesday, May 31.
What We Know About Pistol
According to Disney+ Pistol is a six-episode limited series about the Sex Pistols at the centre of a rock and roll revolution. And at the centre of this series is Sex Pistols’ founding member and guitarist, Steve Jones.
‘Jones’ hilarious, emotional and at times heart-breaking journey guides us through a kaleidoscopic telling of three of the most epic, chaotic and mucus-spattered years in the history of music,’ the synopsis reads.
‘Based on Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, this is the story of a band of spotty, noisy, working-class kids with ‘no future’, who shook the boring, corrupt Establishment to its core, threatened to bring down the government and changed music and culture forever.’
The series has a huge star-studded cast as Masie Williams from Game of Thrones and Louis Partridge from Enola Holmes.
Pistol stars Toby Wallace as Steve Jones, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook, Anson Boon as John Lydon, Christian Lees as Glen Matlock, Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious, Sydney Chandler as Chrissie Hynde, Talulah Riley as Vivienne Westwood, Maisie Williams as punk icon Jordan, Emma Appleton as Nancy Spungen and Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Malcolm McLaren.
Fans Are Sceptical
Even with such an amazing cast people are pretty sceptical at the idea a series about the infamous punk-rock British bad boy band being streamed on a site like Disney+ – owned by the company known for its wholesome family films.
Many people took to Twitter to share their scepticism about it.
For those who are sceptical, this is not Disney’s first spin at doing a gritty rock and roll drama – the limited series Pam and Tommy was a huge success and followed the story of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee facing the aftermath of their sex tape being stolen and leaked.
