Shoppers at Primark will be thrilled to learn the store is finally heading online in a new trial, which is click-and-collect only.
Following the pandemic, which hit Primark hard as stores shut their doors and shopping online became the new go-to, Primark is launching a click-and-collect service.

The High Street retailer said 2,000 products will be offered through a trial which will run out of 25 shops, currently only available in England, in the north west.
According to the chief executive of Primark, George Weston, the store will not be launching its full range online, he told the BBC: ‘What you will never see is the entire Primark range available for click and collect, nor any of it available for home delivery.’
The shop itself also confirmed this in a tweet when approached by a confused customer.
The click and collect service will however allow shoppers who live near a small Primark to access a larger variety of styles and sizes. To keep clothes cheap and to protect the environment, the store will not be delivered to people’s homes.
The Covid-19 pandemic has undoubtedly changed the shopping scene forever, with online-only fast fashion sites like Cider and Shein rapidly gaining traction. While some small businesses have been hit hard by this shift, others have thrived by gaining attention on TikTok and Instagram.
The Changing Shopping Scene
With cheap and expansive fashion available at our fingertips, online shopping is undeniably convenient for comparing clothes and quickly building a new wardrobe. The ethical and environmental effects of fast fashion shops both in person and online however are of course a growing issue.
Online second-hand retailers on popular sites like Depop and Vinted however illuminate the flip side of this coin as shoppers are able to support small businesses and the environment by buying reworked and thrifted goods.
John Bason, the finance director at Primark’s partner shop ABF acknowledges that though the way we shop is changing as he said: ‘The demise of the High Street is way overstated. Though Primark stores were shut for six months its customers have been loyal and returned to buy new clothes since lockdown ended.
‘Primark shoppers will certainly be eager to purchase their winter wardrobes online this year.’
