Amazon Prime Video has hit a home run with A League of Their Own as fans are already buzzing for a second round, asking for season 2.

Based on the 1992 film of the same name, this series centres around the Rockford Peaches, a women’s team in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

In 1943, small-town Carson Shaw leaves her life to pursue her dream of being a professional baseball player. Intertwined with this narrative, Maxine Chapman, a baseball-mad African-American woman, tries to get on a team, despite the racial prejudice she faces.

After the show’s initial success, it has been announced that A League of Their Own will be written into a TV dramedy. Will Graham is on this writing team, alongside Abbi Jacobson who also plays Shaw in the series.

The rest of the Rockford Peaches are made up of D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place), Gbemisola Ikumelo (Famalam), Roberta Colindrez (I Love Dick), Kelly McCormack (Killjoys), Molly Ephraim (Last Man Standing), Melanie Field (Florida Girls), Kate Berlant (Sorry To Bother You) and Priscilla Delgado (Julieta).

Audience Reviews

Fans have taken to this show with fierce love. A League of Their Own details a lot of struggles that queer people faced during this time, focusing mainly on the lesbian community, which is frequently underrepresented.

Due to this, people have relished in the representation in this show, begging studios to give them a second series.

The show currently has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. As well as a strong 6.5/10 on IMDb.
