‘Time Fracture’ combines classic English history of the London Blitz and the beloved sci-fi show ‘Doctor Who’. The two-hour new immersive theatre show takes you on a journey through time and space. What more could a budding Time Lord ask for?
The immersive play is a disclosed UNIT mission. UNIT: the Unified Intelligence Taskforce is the military organisation that works with The Doctor, lead by Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. You become part of the service and go through the Time Fracture itself. The whole show felt like a mixture of the show’s 60th Anniversary episode, The Day of the Doctor, where they saved Gallifrey from the time war, and the crack in space and time that haunted the 11th Doctor through his whole tenure.
To only give a very small spoiler for you, the plot itself brings you a journey as volunteers who have been recruited by the Doctor to stop a ‘time bomb’ from destroying the whole of reality. It was said to be dropped in London in 1942 during the Blitz. But, if that is true, it’s for you to work out.
There are roughly 17 different worlds to discover. Your ability to follow through the whole plot line will depend on what path you take, left or right. We turned left and went on a different adventure to those who turned right, during the first act. Until everyone ends up together in act two. Next time, my plan is to turn right and see where the journey takes me in the world of the ‘Time Fracture’.
You go on an adventure which involves a series of Gallifreyan guides pointing you in the direction of various of “Wibberly Wobberly Timey Wimey” stuff. Something fans of the hit series would be in awe of.
There are lots of pre-recorded contributions from various incarnations of the Doctor. Either voiced by themselves or the incredibly talented voice actors such as Jacob Dudman, whose Matt Smith impression is out of this world. John Barrowman did record a section as Captain Jack Harkness. However that was cut following recent revelations about his behaviour on set during his time on the show.
