Don’t Worry Darling is one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the years and, due to fake accusations of spitting, as well as more inter-cast drama, this film was definitely a must see! The cast had a huge range and included pop star Harry Styles, the brilliant Florence Pugh, and was directed by Olivia Wilde. Wilde and Styles started their romance during filming and, as always, drama has followed this now public relationship. Many speculated if the film would be good at all, due to this being Styles’ first feature as a main character.
What is the plot of Don’t Worry Darling?
Don’t Worry Darling is set in the 1950s and is about a wife named Alice and her husband Jack. They seem to be the perfect happy couple, yet from the beginning there are clearly secrets.
Jack, as well as the other men in the town, leave for work every day on a project called ‘Victory’, run by Chris Pine’s character Frank.
Meanwhile, the women stay home and have to cook and clean for their beloved husbands. The victory mission is never spoken about and the women must not know what is going on.
Things start unravelling quite quickly as Alice starts have visions that the dream life they are living is not all it seems. She starts to uncover certain secrets which then get her in trouble with the community. However, throughout the whole film, you think at least Alice and Jack have each other. Yet this film has a twist like no other.

Jack, played by Harry Styles, is actually the perpetrator of this whole fake life they lead which, in fact, is virtual reality.
He was in a relationship with Alice in the real modern world, yet felt her slipping away. Due to this, he knocked her out and placed her in this virtual reality where she cannot escape.
This twist truly brought the whole film together and made for a very tense ending which I will not spoil for you.
This film was far better than I had originally thought it would be. There are comments about Styles’ acting and it is questionable at times. Yet overall, I think he did a pretty good job.
Florence Pugh excels
Pugh’s acting really stole the show and she depicted her character as a fighter and survivor extremely well.
A great aspect to this film includes all the hidden meanings and messages that you can uncover after finding out the true ending.
You can look back to when Alice was cooking her husband breakfast and the eggs appeared not to be real. This is all due to Alice going off course of her daily structured plan and the ingredients that she believed to be real, not being programmed for her day. Thus they didn’t exist.
I would highly suggest going to see Don’t Worry Darling as it is a great movie. It will have you on the edge of your seat and will definitely get your heart racing.
