Review Of Rosie Jones’ First Ever Stand Up Tour

As she makes fun of on stage, Rosie Jones is on “every single show on television” at the moment and now she is on tour. She has taken over the comedy panel shows, even appeared on Question Time and now she is trekking across the UK to bring us her new comedy show Triple Threat.

Who Is Rosie Jones?

Rosie Jones is a British comedian, actress and writer. She has both appeared on and written for shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, QI and The Last Leg. She also wrote on season two of the Netflix show Sex Education.

Jones has a unique comedic style. She has cerebral palsy and incorporates that into her style, subverting punchlines to keep audiences guessing when they think they have already figured out the joke.

In 2021, Jones published a children’s book called The Amazing Edie Eckhart which follows a young girl who has cerebral palsy, as she begins high school.

Triple Threat Tour

Rosie Jones has already set out on her first UK tour, beginning in early March in Birmingham. After seeing the show myself, I have to say, this is a must-see. That is, if you can get tickets, as many venues are already sold out.

Before Jones comes out, Daniel Foxx did a short set which set the mood. He spoke about how his Nan is very accepting of him being gay and how she accidentally ended up at Brighton Pride with her church friends after they got on a tour bus during the event. His Nan also doesn’t really understand the LGBTQ+ acronym, thinking that the final letter stands for Quorn.

It has to be stated that throughout the show, Foxx and Jones were both joined by Rachel, who is a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter. Jones wanted to make sure that her show was as accessible as it could be and that is testament to the kind of comic she is. That being said, both Foxx and Jones took this opportunity to find out what some of our favourite swear words are in sign language.

Jones hit the stage with a blast and took in the applause she deserved. She set the expectation at the start, telling the audience that she will tell a total of three jokes throughout the show and they will all be at the end. I won’t say if she does or not, but I will say it is worth staying until the end.

After procrastinating, Jones says she doesn’t want to start the show because her opening section starts with a controversial opinion. With a shift in the audience, we waited to see what was to come.

Turns out, Jones wants the beloved national treasure that is David Attenborough to pop his clogs as soon as. This is all in good spirits (or as good as they can be) because she wants the title of national treasure and, with the vast amount of them about, we’re on a one-out, one-in basis now.

Jones also talks about the baffling conversation with Matt Hancock on Question Time and how she tried to learn which questions you need to ask when buying a flat. Namely, how old is the boiler? But, forgetting to ask her Dad, what age is a good age?

The show finished with everyone wanting more and Jones (and Rachel) getting a standing ovation. There are new dates being released due to the large demand for this show, so be sure to snap up some ticket here if you can.
