Movie titans Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum have been out promoting their recently released film The Lost City. During these interviews, Bullock has announced that she will be taking a step ‘away from the camera’ for a while.
In an interview with Tracy Smith, Bullock stated, ‘I just want to be at home… present and responsible for one thing.’
After being in the movie industry for over 30 years, providing us with some of our most loved films, Bullock now wishes to take some time for herself. While this may come as a shock to many fans of the actress, it seems as though Bullock is absolute in her decision, and can we really blame her for wanting to take a breath?
Bullock has won an outstanding 74 awards during her expansive career. The most notable was an Academy Award for her role as Leigh Ann Tuohy in the 2009 classic The Blind Side. Bullock became a beloved household name after portraying Annie Porter in the 1994 hit Speed, as well as bringing Gracie Hart to life in Miss Congeniality. She has worked alongside movie legends such as George Clooney, Keanu Reeves and the late Betty White.
Bullock is a mother to Louis, 12, and Laila, 10. In an interview with ELLE, she said that, during the Covid-19 pandemic, she realised ‘I had missed so many moments of not being present.’
As Bullock takes a step back, the reviews of her latest film come pouring in.
The Lost City follows writer, Loretta Sage (Bullock), as she gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who believes Sage can decypher an ancient code and find a priceless artifact. Sage’s book cover model (Tatum) attempts to rescue her, in the hopes that she finally sees him as more than just a dumb six-pack.
The film has a strong 83% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. One viewer labelled the film as ‘a screwball comedy that’s silly as hell.’
