After six long years, it has been announced that pop and r&b superstar Rihanna is finally making a comeback. We just have to wait until February 12, 2023!
Rihanna Set To Headline Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show
On September 25, Rihanna announced via social media that she would be headlining the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show and, as expected, the internet went into a frenzy. At the time of writing, the Instagram post alone has over 6 million likes!
The photo uploaded on social media features Rihanna’s hand (easily recognisable by her tattoos) holding an American football. It truly is an iconic pic.
As of late, Rihanna has been focused mainly on her business ventures: Fenty Beauty (including Fenty Skin) and Savage X Fenty. According to Forbes, Rihanna’s realtime net worth is $1.4 billion. Clearly, taking a step away from music for a while has been very beneficial to the global superstar.
On top of that, she recently welcomed a baby boy alongside partner A$AP ROCKY on May 23, 2022. To say that Rihanna has been busy would be an understatement.
Rihanna hasn’t released her own music since 2016. Although the fact that she is headlining the halftime show doesn’t necessarily mean she will release new music, hopefully her return to the stage will coincide with new material.
The Navy (Rihanna’s fan base) are experiencing a Rihanna drought and it is about time their thirst is quenched.
How did Twitter react to Rihanna announcement?
My all-time favourite social media network to view people’s reactions and opinions to pop culture events is Twitter. You can trust Twitter users to be entertaining, funny and, best of all, honest.
In true Twitter fashion, there were excited and comical tweets. Here are some of my favourite reactions to Rihanna’s announcement:
It may be a long way off, but we cannot wait to see Rihanna take to the stage for one hell of a gig in 2023.
