Sheffield's Best Day Out Spots

Caitlin Hart August 16, 2022

Sheffield is one of the UK’s most versatile cities. It is home to great bars, restaurants, activities and green spaces. There truly is something for everybody. Here are some of the best places to head to for the perfect day out in Sheffield.

Division Street

Division Street is located in Sheffield City Centre and is a must visit place. Home to some of Sheffield’s best independent restaurants, cafes and vintage shops it makes a great day out. Definitely try Mr Miyagi’s for a lunch date, it has a revolving sushi bar and a huge selection of amazing Asian food to try. For a bit of shopping, the Preloved Kilo shop has the most amazing deals on vintage and second-hand clothes, with pieces starting from 75p.

Botanical Gardens

Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens are perfect for a sunny day out. There are beautiful plants and flowers both inside and outside. The gardens spread across 19 acres of land so there is plenty of space to sit out in the sun. The gardens are also situated just off Ecclesall Road which is home to so many independent cafes and restaurants.

Peddler Market

Peddler Market takes place one weekend a month in Kelham Island and is definitely worth a visit. Running from 2pm-11pm each day, expect craft beers, independent stalls and a huge range of street food. There are also live music acts throughout the day and the market is dog friendly so expect to see some cute faces running around.

Peak District

Right on Sheffield’s door step, the Peak District is not short of days out. If you fancy staying close to Sheffield, head to Ladybower Reservoir, just a bus journey away from the city. There are some beautiful walks around the river as well as pubs to stop off for lunch. If you want to venture a little further, towns such as Bakewell and Castleton are around a 40 minute drive away and are definitely worth the journey. Packed full of independent restaurants, bars and shops as well as beautiful views, they make a great day out.

Fancy a shopping trip? Meadowhall is Sheffield’s biggest shopping centre and home to as many high-street shops as you can name. There are also smaller, independent shops as well as a huge dining quarter full of fast food or table service dining options. It is just a 10 minute drive from the city centre and can also be accessed by bus or tram. The centre is a huge and perfect for occupying the whole day.
