Sheffield's Newest Late Night Bar Duo Opens This Month

Caitlin Hart November 18, 2022

Sheffield‘s newest late-night bar, Duo, is set to open on 29 November 2022 and will be West Street’s latest addition. The venue will be a two-room bar and nightclub open until 4am every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The club promises world-class light and sound as well as free entry every night.

Duo belongs to the owners of Code nightclub, Sheffield’s biggest student club. Code announced last month that they would be closing their doors after being open for eight years. In a post on their Instagram, they stated: “After 8 years, 1657 events and 1.7million customers, it’s time to close the doors to Code forever.

“A combination of fewer students in Sheffield and a recent electricity price increase of 500% means we’re left with no option but to close our beloved club forever. On the plus side, we’ll be moving all our events to our new home, Duo, just off West Street.”

Will Code events happen at Duo?

Popular Code events, such as Wonderland (also known as 90p night), and the Freshers, Christmas and St Patricks Day bar crawls, will all be moved to Duo after Code’s closure. Code is hosting its final event on 26 November, just three days before Duo opens.

The opening date for Duo has been pushed back several times since the announcement of the new venue in August. The original opening date was 16 September, which was pushed back to 28 October, before confirming 29 November as the official opening date.

Code’s social media posts stated: “It’s a smaller space, meaning much lower costs, in a much more central location. We think it’s the right move to keep the business alive, and hopefully you’ll join us as we move on to our next chapter.”

Tickets for Sheffield bar Duo’s opening events, as well as how to claim your first free drink at the bar, are available from their website now.
