Sir Elton John has followed through on his promise and offered concert tickets to the students of Telford Priory School who blew him away with their rendition of one of his songs three years ago.
In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, students at the Shropshire school performed I’m Still Standing remotely with their teacher Ben Millington.
John praised the performance on social media. Three years later, he has sent them tickets to watch him on his farewell UK tour in June.

Back in June 2020, John shared the video of the students at Telford Priory School performing I’m Still Standing remotely.
He tweeted: “The students in Mr. Millington’s music class at @telfordpriory did a brilliant version of my song, #ImStillStanding. Ben, you did a fantastic job and I look forward to having you all as guests at my show.”
Three years later, John has proved that he is a man of his word, as the students have been told to “take their pick” of any of the dates on the singer’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
Millington told the BBC: “Both Elton and David Furnish were so nice and supportive of the work I am doing with these young talented musicians”.
He was not surprised that John sent the tickets. “I just knew he would come through,” Millington said.
“My priorities have changed”
John announced his last tour in 2018, and explained that he wanted to go out with a bang.
Although he will “hopefully” still be making records and writing musicals, John will no longer be touring as he wants to prioritise his children and husband.
He said: “My priorities have changed. We had children and it changed our lives. That doesn’t mean to say I’m not going to be creative. But I’m not going to travel.”
