Songs to help you through your degree

Life as an undergrad is especially difficult this time of year. You’ve just about dragged yourself through semester 1 and the ‘new year, new me’ mindset has flown out the window. So if you’re looking for some motivation, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve compiled a playlist to help you make it through the uni year. Add them to your Spotify and turn them on full blast…until your housemate tells you to turn it down.

‘Survivor’ – Destiny’s child

Get yourself in the survival mindset and listen to this song. No matter how much your degree is beating you, you won’t give up.

‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ – Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell

Blast this soulful song if you are in need of encouragement. Sing the words as if you’re talking to your degree. You’ll get it eventually.

‘Pack up’ – Eliza Doolittle

A blast from the past and one you probably forgot about! A catchy reminder that we all have struggles we can get through.

‘Dog Days are Over’ – Florence and the Machine

A masterpiece of a song and a beautiful reminder that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. But be wary when belting. We aren’t all blessed with the pipes Florence has.

‘Bulletproof’ – La Roux

An upbeat tune that you’ll have in your head all day. Listen to it on your way to the library and you’ll find yourself writing more words than you thought possible.

‘9 to 5′ – Dolly Parton

The perfect song to listen to when you’re falling asleep at your desk. It will combat your ‘What am I doing this for thoughts’ and romanticise your drab workload. If Dolly Parton has to work hard, so can you!

‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ – Queen

A classic to get the ball rolling. You won’t want to stop until you get all your assignments done.

‘Moving on Up’- M People

Listening to this tune will make you unstoppable. You’ll get stuff done because you want to move on up.

‘LDN’ – Lilly Allen

There’s nothing like a Lily Allen song to get you through the day. This one will get you in a good mood and help you appreciate the day-to-day.

‘Pocketful of Sunshine’ – Natasha Bedingfield

There’s a reason Emma Stone was obsessed with this song in Easy A. It’s cute, it’s catchy  and it will infect everyone with good vibes.
