Summer Festivals That Are An Absolute Must

With the hope for hot weather in the UK this summer, going to a festival with a group of friends can be a great event to look forward to. The trouble is working out which are a ‘must attend’ and which are a ‘miss’

As tickets are pricey, it is important to know which ones to start saving for, and what ones you can miss out on.

Of course, festivals are very subjective to a person’s vibe and what music they like. But, after speaking with serval students across different universities, here is my guide to festivals for this year.

Reading: August 26-28

This festival is a great summer event to attend. However, the diverse age ranges are something to consider. Talking with people who attended this when they were 17, including myself, this is a festival that many students in Sixth Form or college decide to attend.

That said, the event is a fun and music-packed one, which you should 100% attend if your favourite artist is playing.

V-Fest: August 21-23

V-fest is a similar vibe to the Reading Festival, except this is based in Chelmsford. Although it is a little less notorious for its narcotics.

If you are concerned about this matter when deciding to attend a festival or not, then V-fest could very much be the choice for you.

Inside Out: May 1

Inside out is a great festival to attend in Cardiff. Personally, this is one of my favourites as the location is set up in Bute Park, and the tents with various artists are just a stone’s throw away.

Even the awful weather could not stop this from being a fun event, as the artists themselves are covered by tents, walking around in the rain did not ruin this festival. This is a 100 percent must-attend and, with special deals, tickets are only around £20 for this day festival.

Tokyo World: September 21-22

This festival is based in Bristol and, although slightly pricier, it is a packed day with artists that would not disappoint.

Inside the festival, the drinks were notably a bit more pricey than usual. But on a hot day no one is going to say no to a nice cold pint.

This festival also includes rides that push it above many other festivals. Personally, I think having some drinks and going on the Ferris Wheel can be a fun pass time before your favourite act comes on the main stage.

Below are the list of other festivals that are going on around the UK and the dates they are starting. Make sure to look into what artists are your favourite, but also consider the location, weather, and price. After all, cheaper day festivals can be just as good as a weekend ones.

Boardmasters: August 10-14

Park life: June 11-12

SW 4: August 26-29

Wireless: September 10-122022

Also, just a reminder for all, stay in a group at festivals, watch your drinks and do not take any unknown substances. Enjoy yourself as much as possible this summer, yet be aware of certain issues festivals can bring.
