Looking back, A-level results day seems like a lifetime ago. But I can remember all too well the feelings I had in the run-up to it.
Your results feel like your entire world, and anyone who says otherwise just doesn’t understand (Yes, that includes Jeremy Clarkson, who despite getting 3 E’s will tweet about his 5 bedroom yacht and summer house in Bordeaux) So in anticipation of your results day, let’s take a look at some of the emotions you might be feeling.
Panic
Panic is a common feeling leading up to results day. Your brain forgets to consider how much work you did in preparation and only focuses on the worst-case scenario.

Anxiety increases the closer the day gets and you’re convinced you’ve failed everything. But whether that’s true or not, panic is still a horrible feeling and can cause some uncomfortable physical symptoms. If your panic regarding results day is becoming overwhelming, find out ways to manage it here.
Apathy
Whilst everyone is freaking out about their results you might not be feeling any emotions whatsoever. This may feel strange when everyone around you seems to act like the world is ending. But everybody has their own way of processing things. But everybody has their own way of processing things and perhaps you’ve come to terms with your results quicker.

Regret
Regret can come before and after you receive your results. In the build-up, you may wish you have revised more, chosen different subjects or chosen something else to do after college. Regret can come from feeling out of control and figuring out how to deal with it can be tough. Take a more in-depth look at this feeling here.

Excitement
Negative emotions aside, you will be feeling some sort of excitement towards results day. Perhaps you’re excited about your future, starting university or a new job. Or even to try something new. Maybe you’re just excited for it all to be over.

Relief
Now, you definitely won’t be feeling much relief in the build-up to results day. But nothing compares to the feeling of getting your results. ‘Good’ or ‘Bad’ at least you’re no longer waiting to find out. You can put it all behind you and celebrate the start of a new chapter.
