The Best Group Costumes For Halloween

Maddy Burgess October 9, 2022

With Halloween creeping closer once again, it’s guaranteed you and your uni pals will be brainstorming a range of costume ideas. Whether it’s for a night out at your Students Union, in the city centre or even just a fun night in, we’ve got you covered for the best group costumes.

There are lots of Halloween group costumes out there, but these are some that should inspire ahead of the spookiest day of the year.

Shrek

While this isn’t exactly scary, it’s definitely a classic and is perfect for a really big group. The characters are endless. As well as Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Puss in Boots, you have all the extra characters like the three blind mice and the three little pigs.

This one would be perfect for a society night out! You can make it as silly as you like, but if green body paint isn’t your thing, you could do a toned-down version with a cute green dress.

If you’re a group of five why not dress up as the gang of mystery solving “meddling kids.” This would be a great option if you’re in a mixed flat of five at university.

You can recreate the characters outfit colour schemes easily and Scooby will just need a pair of ears. If you’re a group of six you can always include Scrappy Doo or the Mystery Machine.

Classic Horror Movie Characters

If you actually want to look scary this Halloween, you could combine all of the most terrifying but iconic horror movie characters. I’m talking about Michael Myers, Jason, Freddie Kruger and Ghostface for a start. The possibilities are endless and you can really make it scary, especially if there are a lot of you.

Alice in Wonderland

Another great one is Alice in Wonderland. While it’s a children’s film, it’s always had a weird and creepy vibe to it. You could make it as cute or as scary as you like. Popular and easy characters to dress up as would include Alice herself, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts. You can always add fake blood if it’s not as scary as you’d like!

Mario and Friends

Again, this is a really fun one for a big group as there are so many characters to choose from. Or, even if there is only three of you, you can’t go wrong with Mario, Luigi and Yoshi. If you have a bigger group you can add Princess Peach, Toad, Kooper Trooper, Bowser and Wario.

Halloween group costumes ensure that the pressure is taken off somewhat, as everyone clubs together to get things perfect.
