Best Movies Of 2022 And Those We Can't Wait To See

Manon Lamy June 12, 2022

2022 is far from over. We’re only halfway. Yet the movie industry is on a roll. After two years of quietness, studios are rolling out movies and some incredible ones at that. In this article, we recap some of the best of the year so far and a couple that we can’t wait to see on the big screen.

Top Gun: Maverick

A sequel 30 years later? Is that even going to work. You’d be surprised. Top Gun: Maverick has soared and has touched audiences big and small. The first Top Gun movie came out in 1986, featuring Tom Cruise as pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell. It soon became a classic. And Top Gun: Maverick is no different. People have praised the movie for being thrilling and touching all at once.

It seems that everyone loves the movie, possibly even more than the first. It features a 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is pretty impressive. To quote one of the film’s critics ‘Maverick is truly one for the ages.’ There’s not much more we can say apart from you have to go see it.

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness

In typical Marvel fashion, they never truly fail. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is no different. The movie is being described as one of the weirdest and scariest Marvel movies but one thing is for sure: everyone who has seen it loves it. And that is reflected by its 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

If you want a movie about multi dimensions then Doctor Strange is the one for you. Fans had been expecting great things, and it didn’t disappoint.

The Northman

If you want vikings and blood than this movie is for you. This Hamlet retelling gives viewers everything it could want and more. It is soaked in mud, blood and pride. Oh and there are lots of famous faces. From Alexander Skarsgård to Nicole Kidman to Anya Taylor-Joy, everyone loves it.

‘Prince Amleth is on the verge of becoming a man when his father is brutally murdered by his uncle, who kidnaps the boy’s mother. Two decades later, Amleth is now a Viking who’s on a mission to save his mother, kill his uncle and avenge his father.’

Everything Everywhere All at Once

This *slightly* bonkers movie follows Evelyn, a Laundromat worker who has some issues with taxes and with her family. She enters an alternate universe and sees different versions of herself. In one she is a movie star, in one one humans have hot dogs for fingers: you get it its a bit crazy but everyone loves it.

The critics say ‘The Daniels and their wow of a star Michelle Yeoh turn this visionary absurdist comedy into a volcano of creative ideas in full eruption. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen.’

The Batman

DC fan or not everyone who has seen this movie has praised it. This new Batman movie combined with a new Batman in the form of Robert Pattinson has let fans wanting more. This dark, a little twisted Batman movie has let everyone on the edge of their seat.

Cyrano

Featuring Peter Dinklage, yes, the iconic Game of Thrones actor but not only. This classical retelling has left viewers and critics in agreement: it is really really good. A little bit unusual at times, we won’t deny it, but its very very good. You should definitely go watch it.

Don’t Worry Darling

If there is one most anticipated movie of the year then it might be Don’t Worry Darling. This movie has not even been released yet it has fans ready and waiting. Of course, with Harry Styles and Florence Pugh who couldn’t. The two play a married couple who play a married couple living in a utopian community. A community where things aren’t quite right. This movie is sure to leave everyone on the edge of their seat and we simply cannot wait.

Elvis

Elvis features Austin Butler stepping in the boots of this claimed singer and actor. The king of Rock and Roll. The movie has not even come out in theatres yet that fans can no longer wait. It is sure to be amazing. Austin Butler has transformed into this icon of the Rock and Roll world.

There are sure to be more movies coming out that will rival the ones released so far this year. And we can’t wait to see what else will be hitting the screens.
