The Best Podcasts Made For Women By Women

Maddy Burgess June 14, 2022

First of all: these podcasts aren’t exclusively for women, all genders are welcome, they’re just tailored towards women. If you’re in the market for a new favourite podcast, we’ve got you covered, rounding up the best that are female-led.

Leah on the Line

Although it’s not hugely well-known, this is my favourite podcast by far. Leah on the Line is a nothing is off-limits, pure girl-talk podcast. It honestly feels like you’re on the phone with your best friend and the whole community surrounding the pod is really wholesome and friendly too. It just has the best vibes.

An episode is released every Tuesday, Friday and occasionally Sunday, consisting of Leah responding to listeners dilemma’s and giving them advice. There is also a debate of the week section, which is posted to the Instagram page where you can have your say, so there’s plenty of opportunity to get involved.

Womanica

If you’re looking for something a bit more educational, try out Womanica. The episodes are released almost daily and are only around 5-10 minutes long.  Each episode focuses on a different incredible woman from history that you may not know about, and definitely weren’t talked about in school. For example, Cheryl Dunye, the first black lesbian to direct a feature film, and Isadora Duncan, the “mother of modern dance.”

What I Wore When

This is one for the fashion lovers. Glamour’s digital director Perrie Samotin, interviews celebrities about what they wore on a life-changing day. For example, what Natasha Bedingfield wore when she wrote Unwritten and what Angie Mar wore when she shot her first book cover. The podcast is weekly, and proves that perhaps an outfit really can change your life.

The Players’ Pod

This women’s sports podcast is hosted by two-time World Cup champion and Olympic Medallist Kelley O’Hara. She interviews the biggest names in women’s sports, taking you behind the scenes and into the minds of your favourite athletes. Recent women to appear on the pod include Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson East and surfing icon Caroline Marks.
