The Best Ways To Celebrate The Platinum Jubilee In London

Caitlin Hamill May 21, 2022

Queen Elizabeth II became Britain’s longest serving monarch this year, with 70 years on the throne. 2022 marks the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and Brits up and down the country will be celebrating. With a four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday June 2 to Sunday June 5, Brits have plenty of time to party.

Jubilees are traditionally celebrated with street parties and afternoon tea. But, if you’re heading to the capital for the festivities, here is a list of fun ways to celebrate our wonderful Liz.

Superbloom at Tower of London

From June 1 through to September 18, the moat at The Tower of London will transform into a beautiful field of florescent flowers. Over 20 million seeds will be planted in the medieval moat to celebrate the Jubilee. A ‘Superbloom slide’ will also be available for visitors. Guests can grab a mat and slide through the stunning exhibit. The Tower of London once hosted a similar event back in 2014. 888,246 ceramic poppies once filled the moat for Remembrance Day.

Ballie Ballerson Shoreditch

The famous ball pit cocktail bar will be celebrating Queen Elizabeth II by hosting a string of events during the bank holiday weekend. The parties will feature a red carpet and a custom background board for photos. Ballie Ballerson even state that guests will be ‘greeted by the lady herself’, what’s not to love? General admission tickets include 2 hours ball pit access and start at £7.50.

The Victoria & Albert Museum

From Wednesday, June 1, the V&A Museum will exhibit the winner of the Jubilee Emblem Competition. The museum will also feature nine other shortlisted designs. The contest was won by 19-year-old Edward Roberts, a graphic design student at Leeds University. The contest was open to all 13-25 year olds.

Entry to The V&A is free, but booking is advised.

Corgi Cafe

In honour of the Queens favourite dog beed, a Corgi Cafe will be opening for one day only on May 29. Corgi owners are encouraged to being their furry friends along – and those who don’t own one are welcome too. The cafe will serve free pupuccinos and take free professional photos of your dog to download after the event.
