Trixie Mattel, a woman of many talents, is now coming for Nick Knowles’ job, as she has started renovating a new motel, Trixie Motel.
The Trixie Mattel empire is growing and there is no sign of it stopping any time soon. With season seven of the hit YouTube show ‘UNHhhh’ on the way, new music coming out, and a whole cosmetic business to run, Trixie well and truly has her hands full.
Who is Trixie Mattel?
Trixie Mattel is the drag persona of Brian Firkus, made famous by appearing on season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Despite coming eleventh (or sixth, depending on if you count the ‘Conjoined Queens’ challenge), Trixie went on to achieve massive success after the show.
Trixie, along with her season seven sister, Katya Zamolodchikova, started a YouTube show in 2016 called ‘UNHhhh’ which unexpectedly changed the face of the platform and catapulted the two into the starlight. The show is beginning its seventh season this year.
In 2018, Trixie comepted on the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, coming out with the crown.
The American queen has released three country albums, charting at number sixteen on Billboard Folk Albums. Her comedy special Trixie Mattel: One Night Only was nominated for a Critics Choice Television Award. And she has now taken her hand, and a hammer, to renovating a motel.
What is Trixie Motel?
In Autumn of 2021, Trixie and her partner, David Silver, began renovating a motel in Palm Springs, California. The $2 million investment and actual process of the renovation is set to be released in a Discovery+ series on June 3 2022.
Trixie Motel will include guest stars coming along to help with the renovation, such as Iggy Azalea, Lisa Vanderpump and Orville Peck.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Trixie said, ‘I’m a drag queen. This motel is the ultimate stunt that no other drag queen or other celebrity would even attempt because it’s psycho. It’s psychotic to do this.’
