There are five different love languages which can determine how you want to receive love and how you take love on.

These are great languages to know when you are in a couple, as you can work out what means the most to yourself, and what means the most to your partner. This is so you can get the most out of the relationship.

These can be extremely intriguing as you can work out what category best suits you and how you react to certain emotions and expressions of love.

Below is a list of the five different languages and what each of them mean. Have a read and see what one best suits you and why.

Words of Affirmation

Your love language surrounds words of encouragement and positivity.

You feel loved and secure when you hear your partner encouraging or complimenting you.

This could be as simple as your partner saying that you look nice today or congratulating you for something good you did in your day.

Acts of Service

This love language includes doing helpful things for partner or loved one.

This is taking the time out of your day to do something which will make their life easier, brighten their day, or doing a certain activity that you know they really enjoy.

Acts of service can mean doing a certain activity that puts someone else’s happiness above your own.

Receiving Gifts

This love language is quite self-explanatory. You feel most appreciated and loved when it is demonstrated through a physical gift.

It doesn’t have to be anything huge, but having someone give you something is the easiest way that you believe they’re showing their expression of love and happiness.

Quality Time

This love language is expressed through spending a dedicated amount of time with each other.

You feel most loved and appreciated when you organise certain date nights or activities together, and where you have both taken time out of your busy schedules to prioritise being with each other for more than a fleeting second.

Physical Touch

Through physical touch, this is where you feel most loved and secure.

You believe that, through the expression of physical touch, this is how love and care is demonstrated and this is how you wish to receive that certain emotion.

Examples of this could even be some of the smaller things such as holding hands, kissing or hugging. Just being close to that person will give you more happiness.
