Sometimes we all have to fight the need to sleep and undertake an all-nighter to get that assignment in. If you’re looking for motivation to get you through the night then give these songs a listen for a much-needed energy boost!
FourFiveSeconds – Rihanna
This is a perfect tune to ease you into the night. It’s a pretty chill tune but the lyrics are very relatable, especially in times when you can’t wait for all your assignments to be over and done with. You’ll never relate to Rihanna more as she sings ‘I think I’ve had enough/ I might get a little drunk.’ Just remind yourself that you will be able to party all night once your assignments have been handed in!
Little Bit Of Love – Tom Grennan
‘A little bit of love’ is definitely what you’ll be needing to get you through the workload. There’s no need to pray to the skies above for help when Tom Grennan is around! His voice is the perfect combination of soothing raspiness that will comfort you in your darkest hours of suffering. You might be ‘holding onto pieces’ but Tom has got your back with this beautiful tune.
You Signed Up For This – Maisie Peters
There’s nobody who relates to being a twenty-year-old more than Maisie Peters. You Signed Up For This is a perfect tribute to the early years of adulthood in which you most likely have no clue where you are going in life. You quite literally signed up to do these exams and assignments, so you may as well sing along to this absolute banger as if it was written just for you in this moment.
My Heart Goes La Di Da (Acoustic) – Becky Hill
Why not take this popular club hit and make it a little bit more suitable for a late night study session? Nobody does acoustic quite like Becky Hill so sing along to a very catchy chorus whilst continuing to focus on your work? You may not be at the club but who said study songs can’t be fun too?
All Too Well (10 Minute Version)(Taylor’s Version) – Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift just has to make the playlist as she is one of the best artists of all time. If you want a song that will have you in tears, this is it. But I’m guessing you have already been crying throughout the night anyway! While giving you all of the feels, it is also a great way to time yourself when doing an exam. ‘Just one more replay of All Too Well and then I’ll have a break.’ I’m sure Taylor created the ten minute with us students in mind.
Black Magic – Jonasu
This is just one of those songs that gets in your head and brings you the absolute vibes! When I play Black Magic I immediately get transported to a time of summer fun (the song was played on Love Island so this may be why). Nevertheless, if it gets you associating assignments with fun then let’s keep putting it on repeat for the rest of the night!
Between Us – Little Mix
Between Us follows the journey of Little Mix from start to finish which means it also brings with it a lot of nostalgia. It will transport you back to the days when life was simpler and you did not have to worry about meeting Uni deadlines. Ah, the good old days! If you are looking to take a breather and de-stress before tackling another paragraph in your essay then this is the song for you!

Glory Days – The Vamps
Although it may not seem like you are living your best life right now, as you struggle to keep your eyes open, staring your laptop screen, things will get better. The Vamps’ Glory Days reminds you that the best days are just around the corner. You are working towards your dream future. Remember that and keep working hard!
For The First Time – The Script
This is an absolute classic of a song but it will always have a special place in my heart, helping get me through student struggles. Danny sings with such emotion as if he understands everything you are going through, singing ‘oh, these times are hard,’ struggling through life with you and supporting you all of the way. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the workload then The Script will be with you every step of the way.
Good Without – Mimi Webb
Mimi Webb’s Good Without has been rather popular amongst TikTokers with it being the perfect song to study to. Mimi knows how to sing a pop ballad, so you can effortlessly listen to her smooth vocals while typing away. Now, all that’s left to do is hit play and let the music do the talking.
