If you are on TikTok, you will have definitely heard one or two of Cat Burns’ songs. The artist has seen her career skyrocket in the past few years, as she supported big named stars on tour and appeared on our TV screens. So, here is all you need to know about the new musical sensation, Cat Burns, and their inevitable rise.

Who Is Cat Burns?

Cat Burns is a British singer-songwriter whose music takes influence from pop and gospel, with a mix of indie. Despite signing a record deal in 2016 after her debut album release, Burns only rose to prominence during the Covid-19 pandemic after she began posting her original songs on TikTok.

In 2020, Burns released “Go”, a song which she debuted on TikTok, which secured her a record deal. The song highlighted at number two on the UK Singles Chart.

Since then, Burns has shot to fame, appearing on shoes such as Jools’ Annual Hootenanny and The Graham Norton Show. In 2022, she was the support act for Years & Years, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith on their respective tours.

Burns released a song on TikTok called “Free” which detailed her experience with coming out to her family. Many people on the platform took the song and used it as the background to videos of their own coming out by making a collage of photos from when they were children to the current day.

Burns’ first album, Adolescent was created in her friends garden shed which had been refurbished into a recording studio. Her second album, Naïve, was released in 2019, with her most popular third album, Emotionally Unavailable coming three years later.
