As well as her outstanding work for the environment, the Swedish account is well known for her Twitter activity. This week proved no different as influencer Andrew Tate attempted to dismiss all of her excellent work and boast about his wealth. Let’s just say that didn’t particularly end well for him. If you enjoyed their little interaction, then here are some more of Greta Thunberg’s Twitter comebacks to those who doubt her.
Being a young woman fighting such an important cause, unfortunately, means that Greta Thunberg has to battle through a lot of unwanted and uninformed comments. Luckily, the 19-year-old can more than hold her own against the internet trolls and can put them in their place. Notorious for her clever and witty comebacks, we look at times when the young activist has burned her challengers.
Greta Thunberg Twitter Comebacks
Andrew Tate certainly wasn’t the first to challenge Greta, so he certainly wasn’t the first to get a retaliation either.
Greta Against Putin
There was this instance where Vladimir Putin spoke about Greta and how “poorly informed” she was. The activist really took the criticism on the chin and changed her Twitter bio to reflect his words.
Greta made a thrilling speech at the 2019 UN conference where she asked world leaders “How dare you?” in allowing climate change to take place without the necessary intervention. Late, Putin criticised the girl at the Moscow Energy Forum after saying she was “kind but poorly informed.” Greta then changed her bio in a hilarious comeback to the Russian leader’s words.
Bolsonaro Takes A Stab
It seems as if a few world leaders have their issues with Greta after Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil called her a “pirralha” in 2019. The comment, which translates to “brat”, came after Greta took to Twitter to criticise and bring awareness to what was happening in Brazil at the time (2019).
Once again, the activist embodied the criticism and changed her Twitter bio to say “pirralha” to show she could not be shaken.
Greta Changes Twitter Bio Once Again
The following year, it was time for President Trump to comment on Greta’s activities with a few suggestions of his own.
You can probably guess what Greta did next. The activist then changed her bio to “a teenager working on her anger management problems. Currently chilling and watching a good old-fashioned movie with a friend.”
This wasn’t the first retaliation to Trump as Greta had amended her Twitter bio before to say “a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future,” after the former President tweeted about her 2019 UN speech.
Her Twitter comebacks against Trump didn’t stop there. In 2021, Greta returned the favour and tweeted a photo of him along with some familiar words…
Andrew Tate has been the latest victim of the activist’s Twitter burns. It just shows that people should know who they are messing with. This is one Twitter exchange that you’re never going to win.
