The Wanted singer, Tom Parker, has died at the age of 33 after losing his battle with terminal brain cancer glioblastoma.
Tom’s wife, Kelsey confirmed the devastating news today, Wednesday March 30, on Instagram, as she shared a post saying her husband had ‘passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side’.
She wrote: ‘Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.’
Who is Tom Parker?
Tom rose to fame in 2010 when he and the rest of The Wanted boys released their self-titled album which included several UK chart-topping singles ‘All Time Low’ and ‘Glad You Came’.
Along with their UK hits and three studio albums, the band took home four awards in their tenure, including a People’s Choice Awards for ‘Favourite Breakout Artist’ and the Virgin Media Music Awards for ‘Best Group’.
Before their split, the boys claimed they four Billboard100 singles, sold over 900,000 records, got three platinum albums and sold-out two arena tours.
In 2013, they starred in their own reality show for the E! network called The Wanted Life, but it wasn’t the success and the boys decided in 2014 to take time apart so each member could pursue their own personal project.
Tom’s Cancer Diagnosis
The singer was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour while his wife Kelsey was pregnant with their second child, in October 2020.
However, in January 2021, Parker posted to Instagram that his tumour had been ‘significantly reduced’ and that he was continuing his treatment. He then went on to hold a special charity concert at The Royal Albert Hall, in aid of Stand Up to Cancer. The event, Inside My Head, featured artists such as Becky Hill, McFly, Liam Payne and his first performance with his band-mates since their split.
In November last year the 33-year-old posted on Twitter saying brain tumour is stable, he wrote: ‘Had the results from my latest scan…and I’m delighted to say it is STABLE.’
However, in recent months his health deteriorated and he has sadly lost his devastating battle. He is survived by his wife and their two children – a daughter, born in 2019 and a son, was born in 2020.
