Now the holiday season is fast approaching, you may have wanderlust on the brain. I love a staycation, and almost always pick it over a trip abroad, and I’m going to tell you why.
Saving Money
One of, if not the most convincing reason. Normally, paying for your flights alone is the same price as a week away in the UK! When planning a holiday abroad, it’s easy to forget all the little things that cost too. Car hire, insurance, and baggage allowance – some places charge a city tax as well to stay there.
Here, you can get a return trip on a Megabus for less than £20 and have a lot more money for your holiday allowances. Plus, it’ll typically mean you can have a longer holiday than you would abroad too!

Knowing The Language
For me, it’s one of the most nerve-wracking things about going abroad – not knowing the language. Learning a new language is a great skill to have, but you can’t be fluent in the native language of every country you visit. Additionally, presuming that the locals will know your language is just entitled.
By having a staycation, you’re less likely to run into that problem. You may have a few issues with the dialect (as a Devonian, I can definitely say that), but for any emergencies, or needing directions, there won’t be a language barrier for you to worry about.
Exploring Your Country
Even though the UK is a relatively small island, there’s still a vast range of places to visit. From city to sea to country, mountains to monuments and museums – you definitely haven’t seen it all. Luckily, you’re never more than a day’s trip away from anywhere in the UK, and you won’t need a passport to get there!
Sure, exploring the world is amazing, but getting to know and love all the beautiful places in your country is a great experience too.
