Are you on the lookout for somewhere to spend your Friday and Saturday nights now that you’re at university? Of course, students love a good night out, but where exactly is the best place to go? If you live in Bristol, here are some of the top bars for students to go.

Thekla

Thekla is truly a unique Bristolian club. To heck with regular clubs on the high-street, Thekla will shift your perception. According to its website, Thekla is a club that exists on ‘a converted German cargo ship moored in Bristol Harbour since 1984’.

Aboard ship, you can enjoy alternative and indie music, allowing you to dance the night away with live DJs. There are also frequent live musicians and events occurring.

Thursdays are student nights in which you can gain free entry and 2 for 1 drinks prior to 10pm.

Thekla is located: 40, The Grove, Bristol BS1 4RB

The Anchor

This pub is the perfect place for a meet-up with your friends. There is cheap food and beverages, so as to not break the bank. From beer to cocktails and fine wine, there is something for everyone to enjoy here.

The Anchor has lovely outdoor seating and several large TVs so you catch any sports events you may want to see.

This is a great place for pre-drinks, especially on Thursdays, known as ‘Cheap Skates’ night. Here you can get full pints for only £1.50!

The Anchor is located: 323 Gloucester Road, Bristol, BS7 8PE

Motion

If you want a bustling club experience, then Motion is the place to be. Named as ‘the best large club in the UK’ Motion sees students come from all over the country to see relevant DJs and performers in this converted warehouse area.

Drinks are cheap and the experience is out of this world, so there is no reason not to check it out. All events required tickets, so be sure to look on their website for events and tickets. If you buy tickets in advance, you can get them at a cheaper price!

Motion is located: 74-78 Avon Street, Bristol, BS2 0PX

All Star Sports Bar

All Stars is your spot for everything sport related. Despite cheap drinks, this place has over 40 TVs with 15 sports channels available including Sky Sports, BT Sport and Eurosport HD. You can even request any sporting event to be put on the TV closest to you.

In addition, there are four full-size snooker tables, 12 regular pool tables, a poker machine, boxing machine, five darts boards and table football, to name but a few.

This is the perfect place for you to get your competitive juices flowing and take on your friends in an array of games.

All Stars is located: 15-19 Queens Road, Bristol, BS8 1QE

The Apple

The Apple is another amazing place to go for a different kind of night out and is definitely one of the top student bars in Bristol. The Apple is a cider bar located on a ‘1930’s Dutch barge’, opened in 2008. This boat has some eight ciders on tap as well as a range of cocktails including Apple Bakewell, Cider Sangria and Bristol Pimms.

This bar also has an amazing beer garden if you don’t want to explore the two levels of the docked barge. According to their website, they have sold over one million ciders since they opened, so it must be good!

You can also bring your own food to enjoy here too, which means you know that you will definitely be eating something that you like.

The Apple is located: Welsh Back, Bristol, BS1 4SB
