Top Girls Aloud Songs As Reunion Confirmed In Sarah Harding’s Memory

A Girls Aloud reunion in memory of the late Sarah Harding has been confirmed by former member Nadine Coyle.

Harding passed away age 39 in September 2021 after her battle with breast cancer, now her former bandmates, Coyle, Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh, and Nicola Roberts, are planning a charity event in her memory, according to OK Magazine.

Coyle told the publication the ladies want to raise money for more medical equipment that may diagnose cancer sooner after Harding’s devstating battle.

She told the publication: ‘We’re planning a night for an event to raise money in honour of Sarah. She’s very much in the forefront of our minds.

‘We want to raise money for a piece of medical equipment that helps diagnose cancer earlier so people can be treated. We definitely want to do something to help others.’

The 36-year-old singer said her friend’s passing ‘still affects us [her and her bandmates] deeply, to think about everything that she went through’.

The girls first came together through the ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. The group achieved a string of 20 consecutive top ten singles in the United Kingdom, including four number ones. They also achieved seven certified albums, of which two reached number one. They have been nominated for five Brit Awards, winning the 2009 Best Single for ‘The Promise’, before splitting in 2013.

Love Machine

Although the ladies have made little secret over the years ‘Love Machine’ is their least favourite song it’s their highest-streaming most popular song on Spotify with 42,345,640 streams.

Sound of the Underground

Released in 2002 ‘Sound of the Underground’ it actually claimed the top spot at Christmas and peaked at number one. It’s garnered 34,721,504, streams on Spotify.

Released on the soundtrack of the 2003 film Love Actually and was a cover of the 1984 Pointer Sister’s song of the same name and debuted at number two on the UK Singles Chart, behind Westlife’s cover of Barry Manilow’s ‘Mandy’. It currently has 31,431,214 streams on spotify.

The Promise

‘The Promise’, which was released in 2008 from the album Out of Control, bagged the girls their very first and long-awaited Brit Award in 2009 and peaked at number one. Despite being their award-winner it sits at number four on Spotify with 21,139,105.

Something Kinda Ooooh

The song was written and recorded to launch the band’s greatest hits collection in 2006, The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits. The electro-pop song sits happily on 18,278,123 streams on Spotify.
