According to WAFB reports 17-year-old (at the time) Anthony killed his father Burt after the pair had an argument over Anthony’s mobile. It was said Burt was going through Anthony’s phone to see if his son had any contact with his mother and Burt’s ex-wife Susan.
Anthony caught his father in the act and an altercation ensued. Anthony would later say his father was drunk and attacked him and that caused him to run away into his dad’s room where he found the gun.
The teenager actually described the incident on a call to 911 after the fact. He said: ‘He tried to attack me. Then, we got into a fist fight. Then, I ran in his room, closed the door, and got a gun. As I unlocked the door, he tried to {inaudible} and then I shot him.’
It was also reported Anthony said he had tried to shoot his dad in the head and shot three times, unknowing if he’d hit his dad or not, but he assumed he had as there was blood on the floor.
Burt wasn’t killed instantly and actually died in hospital a few days later.
Fox reported Anthony claimed during the trial his father was abusive to him and in 2021 ultimately Anthony pled no contest to negligent homicide for the 2019 death of his father
