Water Polo
Water polo is a team sport which is played with teams of seven. Six are in the outfield and one is a goalkeeper. The game is divided into four quarters of eight minutes. Whichever team scores the most goals by the end wins. It’s a physically intensive game that is not only fun but will also get you a good workout.
Ultimate Frisbee
Another team sport, Ultimate is played on a rectangular field. When a player catches the frisbee in the endzone of the field, they score a point. Since players cannot run with the frisbee, the game involves a lot of careful and precise passing to teammates. Players begin from the opposite endzone and work their way across the field. Whichever team is the first to score fifteen points wins.
Archery
If you’re more into solo sports, archery can be a great discipline to try. As you might expect, it takes a lot of arm strength and flexibility as well as precision. There is a definite learning curve, but it is a very rewarding sport once you get the hang of it. Plus, you get to be part of a long tradition of bow-wielders.
Korfball
Another one of the best unconventional sports to try is Korfball. Korfball is something like a fusion of basketball and netball. Players work as a team to get the ball towards the goal and take a shot. Unlike basketball, there is no dribbling. You also can’t shoot the ball if you’re being defended. The game moves quite fast. One of its unique features is that teams have both men and women on them.
Chess Boxing
One of the oddest sports out there is chess boxing. It’s exactly what the name suggests: players alternate between rounds of boxing and chess until someone either scores checkmate or knocks the other one out.
