Wagamama has announced that it will be giving away free katsu curries on Tuesday September 27 to mark the launch of Noodle Union, their very own student society.
The society is headed up by president Niko Omilana, who said: ‘I, Niko, have been elected as president of the Noodle Union. I believe in a nation fuelled by ramen and katsu curry. The first item on my agenda: fuelling students with free Wagamama.’
Katsu curry is Wagamama’s most popular dish, and was bought 2.5 million times in 2017. Exxecutive chef Steve Mangleshot told The Guardian: ‘It doesn’t scare people, people read “fried chicken, rice, curry sauce” and think, “Oh, I can eat that!”’
How do you get a free katsu curry?
To be eligible for the free katsu curry, you need to enter your student email address at noodleunion.wagamama.com.
The first 50 students to arrive at all Wagamama restaurants between 3pm and 5pm will receive a free curry. You can choose from either chicken katsu, yasai katsu, hot katsu or vegatsu.
Wagamama fans at one soon-to-be-announced restaurant will be surprised with a visit from the president, Omilana.
The deal is available for dine-in only, and remember to bring your student ID card.
Noodle Union is also giving students the chance to win one of 100 pairs of limited-edition, golden chopsticks. Each pair will unlock £300 to spend at Wagamama.
According to Omilana, there will be ‘other epic prizes throughout the year.’
Omilana is an English YouTuber known for his comedy sketches and prank videos. In 2021, he started a campaign to become the Mayor of London and ended up becoming the highest-place independent candidate, gaining 49,638 votes.
