Whether it’s an embarrassing photo from a while ago, something a bit more private or just a memory you want to keep under lock and key, not everything is for everyone to see. The social media app has a handy way for you to keep all of that to yourself, but there are a few things you should be aware of.
What Is Snapchat My Eyes Only?
My Eyes Only is a feature on the app that lets your move your snaps and more into a secure place, only accessible through a passcode.
Users can move Stories and Snaps from their Memories to Snapchat My Eyes Only. If you want to view it, you’ll need to enter a passcode. Only you will be able to view it, unless you give it to someone else, as well as your account details.
How To Set The Feature Up
To set it up for the first time, swipe up from the camera screen which will open up Memories. Hold the Snap that you want to move and wait for ‘My Eyes Only’ to pop up. Go to ‘Quick Setup’ where you’ll be prompted to enter a passcode. Make sure it’s memorable because if you forget it, you won’t be able to access the feature.
If you easily forget numbers, you can set up a password made up of letters as well. Simply tap Passphrase at the bottom of the setup screen.
Then, you need to agree to the terms and conditions and click ‘finish’ and the feature is ready to go!
In the future, if you want to move stuff into My Eyes Only, hold down on the image or story and click ‘Hide Snap’. After that, it’ll only appear in your private folder.
You can also ensure that all your Memories go into Snapchat My Eyes Only. Simply go to settings and then memories, then toggle on ‘Save to My Eyes Only by default.’
Later on, you’ll be able to unhide what you’ve saved into My Eyes Only if you want to make it public again.
Who Can See My Eyes Only On Snapchat?
Only those who have access to your passcode or passphrase can access your hidden Snaps and Stories. Really, this should just be you, as it can only be seen through your account.
So, if you have friends who have your account details and you let your passcode slip, then you may want to change your numbers to keep it private.
Even the Snapchat help team can’t access your My Eyes Only hidden content. That means if you forget your passcode then you won’t be able to get into it and that content will be lost. That’s why you need to make sure it’s memorable!
