First it was songs, then dances, even water bottles, and now Chapagetti is the latest TikTok trend, but what is it and how do we make the dish?
Videos of TikTok users making Chapagetti have been storming the app as more and more videos are uploaded of instant noodles being made into genuinely delicious looking dishes.
What is Chapagetti?
Nongshim’s Chapagetti ramyeon is a brand of ramyeon that was first released in South Korea back in 1984. The instant noodles were the first product in the country to resemble jajangmyeon, and the product’s name is made up of a combination of that word and the word ‘spaghetti’.
It quickly became the second most popular instant noodle brand in the country, behind Shin Ramyun.
It found more popularity worldwide after one of the characters in the Academy Award-winning South Korean film Parasite cooked a dish called ‘Chapaguri’, a hybrid of Chapagetti and Neoguri.
What is The Chapagetti TikTok Trend?
Basically people upload videos on TikTok of them opening a packet of Chapagetti and proceed to make some amazing looking dishes with the simple noodles. The trend has now had over 15 million views and is guaranteed to keep growing.
People have made the dish adding to it with vegetables and other food – like a fried egg on top – and one guy shared a fairly easy looking ‘midnight recipe’.
