Disney+ has dropped the trailer for Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers and people are all saying the same thing – it gives them complete Who Framed Roger Rabbit vibes.
For anyone who wasn’t a child of the 90s they may be slightly confused by this – so we’ve got you covered if you’re asking ‘what is Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’ after the comparison was made.
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers Trailer drops
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is it’s own level of nostalgia as the upcoming Disney+ movie is a 30 year comeback in the making – and as the poster states it’s absolutely a comeback not a reboot – and has been done in hybrid live-action/CG animated action-comedy style.
In the trailer is shows Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now.
It has been decades since their successful television series was cancelled, and Chip (voice of Mulaney) has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale (voice of Sandberg), meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days.
When a former castmate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life.
It also shows various references to other Disney, and non-Disney, shows and movies like Jimmy Neutron, Peter Pan, and, Cars.

Of course, many people were quick to take to Twitter to share their views on the new trailer and a lot of people said the same this, it reminded them of Who Framed Roger Rabbit – and not just for the animation alongside live-action concept, but seemingly the script too.
What is Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
For many of you born too late to truly appreciate the genius of the movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a star-studded movie from 1988 starring Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd.
Set in 1947 it shows a world where toon characters live harmoniously alongside people – albeit with a separated Toontown from Los Angeles. Roger is a toon comedy actor rabbit, married to the beautiful Jessica Rabbit, who suspects his wife of having an affair Marvin Acme, owner of both the Acme Corporation and Toontown and hires the reluctant private detective Eddie Valiant to help him get to the bottom of it.
When Acme turns up dead and Roger is framed for his murder the rabbit turns to Valliant to help him prove his innocence – something Valliant isn’t eager to do since his bother was actually killed by a toon years earlier.
The movie only had a $50.6 million budget but ultimately grossed $329.8 million in the box office and has been a cult classic since.
But, it’s easy to see why people are comparing it to the upcoming Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers movie – which is set to drop on Disney+ on May 20.
