How Manchester United and Spurs fans Reacted To Weekend Clash

Alex Fletcher March 17, 2022

It’s time for us, for the first time this year, to have a look at what the social media reaction was to last weekend’s Premier League action. As ever, social media was all over the main talking points and I will do my best to cover the major talking points.

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur

SUI!!! That seemed to be the most popular word across much of Twitter after five-time Ballon D’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo netted his first hat trick since returning to Manchester United. Ronaldo’s goals proved crucial in an entertaining 3-2 victory over Spurs. ‘I repeat,  Cristiano Ronaldo is not a small boy!!!! HE KEEPS NETTING!!! Broke another record today!!!! Onwards to the GOAT!!!’.

That was the verdict of Don Billiato who, like so many others, was quick to recognise the brilliance of the Portuguese superstar. Many football fans marvelled at the brilliance of the 37 year old who was keen to still show the magic in those boots. Especially in the presence of NFL legend Tom Brady who announced the day after the game that he would be returning to play once again. Ronaldo’s influence seemingly knows no bounds!

It wasn’t just CR7 who caught the eye of the United faithful however. UnitedCult highlighted, ‘Fred was really good this game’ keen to indicate the level of performance of United’s main man in midfield. Despite coming in for a lot of criticism in recent months, the Brazilian is seemingly proving the doubters wrong. Especially on social media.

As for Spurs, former midfielder Jamie O Hara summed up the mood of the fans. ‘What can you do when you’re having to play against the greatest goal scorer of all time, if he decides to turn it on there’s nothing that can stop him, kills our top 4 chances’.

The mood is grim around the North London club these days and fans were certainly not best pleased with the performance at Old Trafford. The inconsistent nature of their results is the biggest frustration.

Crystal Palace v Manchester City

Monday night football took us to Selhurst Park for a crucial game in the Premier League title race. With Liverpool breathing down their necks it was essential for Manchester City to win and maintain their six point advantage. However, Pep Guardiola’s team were held to 0-0 draw in South London against a resilient Palace side.

Mancity.fever were very clear in their conclusion as to why City were unable to take home all three points. ‘Problem: We lost 9 points against Crystal Palace and Southampton this season because we didn’t take our chances. We need a clinical striker to come on in those games when we just can’t score a match winning goal. Solution: Buy Haaland, #ManCity! We will be unstoppable!’.

It’s clear to see what City fans want out of the summer transfer window!

Crystal Palace on the other hand were relishing in their recent success against Manchester City. RizzoX8 was keen to heap as much praise as possible on manager Patrick Viera by simply stating, ‘Patrick Vieira has taken 4 points off Pep Guardiola this season btw’.

Palace fans have really taken to their new gaffer and, while they didn’t win, they were overjoyed at taking a point against the champions. With an FA Cup quarter final to come against struggling Everton next weekend, the feelgood factor really does seem to be rising around Selhurst Park.
