Weekend one of Coachella drew to a close on Sunday, and day three was as lively as ever. Sunday was packed full of energy and surprise guest performances, check out what went down as The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia replaced Kanye West.
Who performed on Sunday?
Doja Cat
Rapper Doja Cat’s 21 song set was full of surprises to get the crowd going. Doja performed smash hits such as a mesmerising rock version of ‘Say So’, ‘Kiss Me More’ and ‘Woman’. The rapper was joined by Tyga to perform their collaboration ‘Juicy’, and Rico Nasty surprised the crowd for their addictive hit ‘Tia Tamera’.
Doja also performed two new songs during her set. The rapper got the crowd riled up to a song titled ‘Vegas’ for the upcoming Elvis biopic. The set also concluded with an unreleased song titled ‘F***** Up’. Doja Cat’s set was nothing short of electric. The dancers, pyro and costume changes represent exactly what it feels like to be on Planet Her.
FINNEAS
Having previously shared the stage on Saturday with sister Billie Eilish, FINNEAS returned for a solo set on day three. He performed his biggest songs such as ‘Let’s Fall in Love For The Night’ and ‘Till Forever Falls Apart’. The singer-songwriter also brought the spirit of fictional boyband 4*TOWN to the festival. FINNEAS surprised the crowd with a stripped back performance of ‘Nobody Like U’, a song he and his sister wrote for the 2022 Disney film Turning Red.
Indie singer Lizzie McAlpine also joined FINNEAS midway through the set for a performance of their collaboration ‘Hate To Be Lame’.
Karol G
The Colombian singer marked her debut at the festival this year, and her set on the Coachella Stage was one to remember. Dressed in the colours of her country’s flag, the singer performed her global smash hit ‘Tusa’ but without her collaborator Nicki Minaj. Karol G later brought on special guest Becky G to perform their hit ‘MAMIII’, as well as Tiesto to perform their collaboration ‘Don’t Be Shy’.
The singer also paid homage to her roots by covering popular Latin songs such as ‘Gasolina’ by Daddy Yankee, ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ by Shakira and ‘Mi Gente’ by J Balvin.
Måneskin
Last year’s Eurovision winners are taking over the world as they played the Mojave stage on Sunday. The quartet, known for their risqué style, wore lots of leather as they opened with their winning song ‘ZITTI E BUONI’. The band played their hits ‘MAMMAMIA’, ‘I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE’ and their famous ‘Beggin’ cover.
The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia
The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia replaced Kanye West as headliners after the rapper pulled out over a week before. Their electric set opened with The Weeknd’s ‘Sacrifice’, and the energy remained high throughout. The Weeknd performed songs such as ‘Blinding Lights’, ‘The Hills’ and ‘Save Your Tears’. The singer even sang his verse from ‘Hurricane’, a song from West’s album ‘Donda’.
