After a two-year break due to the COVID pandemic, Coachella is back and is thoroughly underway – and, of course we all want to know what went down and all about Justin Bieber’s surprise guest performance.
The famous festival, which kicked off on Friday, April 15, is located in Colorado Desert in Indio, California and is famous for celebrity sightings and its unwritten stylish dress code.
Day one of the festival was full of performances and guest appearances from some of the biggest names in music. Here is everything that went down.
Who performed on the Friday?
Harry Styles
Harry Styles is a headliner of the festival this year, and was one of the many acts to perform on the Coachella Stage. The 28-year-old Brit surprised fans with a brand new song titled ‘Boyfriend’, as well as the live debut of his brand new single ‘As It Was‘.
Later in his set, Harry brought country superstar Shania Twain on stage to sing her hits ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman’ and ‘You’re Still The One. The singer also debuted a Harry’s House pop up shop, where fans could buy merchandise themed around his upcoming, unreleased album.
Anitta
The Brazilian superstar took to the stage on Friday after having her set moved from the Saturday. The singer brought the heat from Rio as she performed hits such as ‘Envolver’, ‘Vai Malandra’ and ‘Downtown’. Anitta’s set was jam packed with surprises, as she brought on guests such as Saweetie, Diplo as well as Snoop Dogg to open her set.
Phoebe Bridgers
The Indie singer made an appearance in the Outdoor Theatre, where she sang hits such as ‘Motion Sickness’ and ‘Kyoto’. British newcomer Arlo Parks joined Phoebe at the end of her set to perform ‘Graceland Too’ and ‘I Know The End’.
Surprise Guest: Justin Bieber
Although he was not in the line-up, the superstar made a surprise guest appearance during Daniel Ceasar’s set to perform their smash hit, ‘Peaches’.
Carly Rae Jepsen
Pop princess Carly Rae Jepsen got the crowd going as she played favourites such as ‘Run Away With Me’, ‘I Really Like You’ and the infamously catchy hit, ‘Call Me Maybe’. The singer also debuted a brand-new song titled Western Wind.
Who are the headliners this year?
The headliners for 2022 are Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia. Kanye West was also due to headline the festival, however, pulled out just over one week before – this was reportedly due to a lack of preparation.
