The Academy Awards have released their shortlist for ten categories ahead of the ceremony next year. However, these are for the more technical awards, so now people are asking when the rest of the Oscar 2023 nominations be announced.
It’s the highlight of the film year and whether it be snubs or shock wins, there’s always a little bit of drama. Last year might have been the most dramatic of all, so we’re sure that the Academy Awards will want a quieter year this time around. The first set of short-list nominations have been announced for the more technical categories with some films taking the lead. When Will The Nominations For The 2023 Oscars Be Announced?
The rest of the Academy Award nominations will be released on January 24 2023. The actual ceremony will then be held on March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Voting will commence on January 12 and close five days later on January 17. The results will then be collated and announced in the streamed announcement a week later. There will be a telecast on ABC of the announcement if you’re eager to watch along.
All nominations have to be submitted by November 15 to be in with a chance of consideration. This will then be whittled down to a long list, and then the shortlist nominations. Everyone will be waiting to hear what the Best Picture nominees are, the most highly anticipated award of the night. So many great films have been released this year, a year which helped boost the box office to pre-pandemic levels.
IndieWire lists the following films as the frontrunners to be nominated:

- Elvis
- Top Gun: Maverick
- The Woman King
- The Banshees of Inisherin
- Living
- TÁR
- Women Talking
- Everything Everywhere All At Once
- The Fabelmans
Other possible contenders could be the Black Panther sequel, Glass Onion, Pinocchio and All Quiet On The Western Front.
Predictions For Best Actor And Actress At The Academy Awards
The two other major awards for the night will be for the best leading actors in the male and female categories. Some of the frontrunners won’t be surprising to you at all. Variety believes the following will be in the Oscar nominations.

- Michelle Williams – The Fabelmans
- Margot Robbie – Babylon
- Viola Davies – The Woman King
- Jennifer Lawrence – Causeway
