Where Did The Apprentice Candidates Go To University?

The Apprentice has returned for its 17th series and a fresh set of candidates from across the UK. We’re four weeks in and the 18 contestants are battling it out in a series of challenges to become Lord Sugar’s new business partner and get that quarter of a million pounds investment. But where did the Apprentice candidates go to university?

According to the Metro, around 60,000 people apply for the show each year, so getting into the process is a huge accomplishment. But, where did those who did make it this year get their all-important business skills?

The University of Nottingham – Avi Sharma

The youngest candidate in the series this year is city banker, Avi Sharma. He studied Economics at The University of Nottingham in 2019 and his dissertation was on “the impact of social media usage on academic performance.”

Where Did Apprentice Candidates Marnie Swindells and Shazia Hussain Go To University?

Two of this year’s candidates went to Goldsmiths University of London, Marnie Swindells and Shazia Hussain. Marnie studied History and Politics before training as a barrister at BPP University Law School. She is now the owner and director of boxing club, Bronx Boxing.

Shazia is a technology recruiter from London. She studied Media and Communication and graduated in 2003. According to her LinkedIn, she was a member of many societies including piano, dance, running and tennis.

Aberystwyth University – Gregory Ebbs

Gregory Ebbs, who was recently fired from the show by Lord Sugar, went to Aberystwyth University. He studied International Relations and Military History which, to those who watch the show, will come as no surprise. His specialty was information about canons which became a running joke. He also did a Masters of Science in Strategic Management and Public Policy at the University of Malta.

University of Exeter – Joseph Phillips

According to Cornwall Live, candidate Joe Phillips studied at the University of Exeter, Penryn Campus. He graduated in 2020 with a first class honours degree in Zoology. From his Instagram account, you can see that he played Rugby during his time at uni.

University of Southampton – Sohail Chowdhary

Sohail Chowdhary, founder of AG Martial Arts, studied Economics at the University of Southampton. He was the co-founder and vice president of the uni’s consulting society.

University of Hull – Megan Hornby

Candidate and owner of bar, restaurant and sweet business, Club Candy, Megan Hornby, went to the University of Hull. She studied Criminology and graduated with a first class honours. Her LinkedIn profile also showcases that she was a part of the university football team.

University of Sunderland – Reece Donnelly

Managing Director at the Theatre School of Scotland, Reece Donnelly, went to the University of Sunderland. He studied Drama and Dramatics. He is also the first Scottish candidate to appear on The Apprentice in eight years.

Aston Business School – Simba Rwambiwa

Simba Rwambiwa went to Aston Business School where he studied a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management. He graduated in 2018 and says on his LinkedIn profile that he is “trying to do Aston proud.”

University of Northampton – Danisha Kaur Bharj

Danisha Kaur Bharj who was most recently fired on the show, went to the University of Northampton where she studied Accounting and Finance. She graduated with a first class degree and went on to become a financial controller and founder of a false lashes business.
