The new season of Fate: The Winx Saga is storming Netflix, but where is the series with a stunning backdrop filmed?
Season 2 of the live-action reboot of the Italian cartoon Winx Club has dropped on Netflix yesterday, September 16, and as well as a cracking cast and cliffhanger storylines, the show has a stunning backdrop for the character’s school grounds of Alfea.
Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga season 2
From creator Brian Young (The Vampire Diaries), Fate: The Winx Saga follows the coming-of-age journey of six fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence.
Season 2 kicks off months after the cliffhanger ending which had fans gripped. According to the longline: ‘School’s back in session under the militant authority of Alfea’s former Headmistress Rosalind.
‘With the Burned Ones gone, Dowling “disappeared” and Silva imprisoned for treason, the Alfea of last year has grown up with new magic, new romances and new faces.
‘But when fairies start to go missing in the night, Bloom and her Suitemates discover a dangerous threat lurking in the shadows. One they’ll have to stop before it wreaks havoc on the entire Otherworld.’
One thing is for sure although the girls have a lot of struggles to overcome each school year, they do it on the stunning school grounds of the boarding school, Alfea.
Where Is Fate: The Winx Saga Filmed?
Unfortunately for anyone hoping to embrace the powers of the elements, Alfea is not a real place, but the filming locations of the show are.
The Alfea School of Magic is actually the Killruddery House, a spectacular mansion on the outskirts of Bray, south of Dublin – although the great hall in the show isn’t part of the 17th Century manor, that’s CGI.
The stone circle’s location with the waterfall is a real place too. This is the Powerscourt Waterfall, part of the Powerscourt Estate and a popular landmark and tourist attraction near Enniskerry (County Wicklow).
However, most scenes insides were filmed at Ardmore studios, also in Bray, Co. Wicklow where many scenes from the Prime Video show Vikings were filmed.
