There are some surprises on the list, and some, of course, are to be expected. Check out the top 10 artists in the world right now:
10. Calvin Harris
A surprising entry to start the list is Scottish DJ Calvin Harris. With over 56 million listeners every month, the hit-maker is responsible for songs such as ‘One Kiss’ with Dua Lipa, ‘This Is What You Came For’ with Rihanna and ‘Summer’.
The DJ is streamed the most in London, Mexico City, Sydney, Amsterdam and Santiago.
9. Taylor Swift
A crazy 56.8 million listeners every month puts Taylor Swift at number nine on the list. The hit-maker is responsible for the likes of ‘Blank Space’, ‘Love Story’ and ‘Shake It Off’. Taylor is currently in the process of re-recording her first six albums, which are boosting her streaming figures on the platform.
The singer is streamed the most in London, Jakarta, Chicago, Sydney and Los Angeles.
8. Doja Cat
The ‘Say So’ singer reaches number eight on the list with over 58 million listeners every month. The rapper is known for songs such as ‘Woman’, ‘Streets’ and ‘Kiss Me More’ featuring SZA, which has over one billion streams on the platform.
London, Los Angeles, Chicago, Sydney and Dallas are the cities that stream Doja the most.
7. Bad Bunny
The Puerto Rican rapper and singer racks in over 62 million listeners a month, which earns him seventh place on the list. Bad Bunny is known for songs such as ‘Callaita’, ‘MIA’ with Drake, and ‘LA NOCHE DE ANOCHE’ with Rosalía. The singer has five songs over one billion streams, including his collaboration ‘I Like It’ with Cardi B.
Mexico City, Santiago, Madrid, Lima and Buenos Aires stream Bad Bunny the most.
6. Drake
Canadian rapper Drake makes it onto the list with over 64 million listeners a month. He has an impressive eight songs in the billions club, including ‘Passionfruit’, One Dance’, ‘God’s Plan’ and ‘Hotline Bling’. Cities that listen to Drake the most are London, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and New York.
5. Dua Lipa
The ‘No Lie’ singer makes it onto the list in fifth place, with an impressive 70,680,867 monthly listeners. Seven of Dua’s songs are members of the billions club, including: ‘New Rules’, ‘Levitating’ and ‘Don’t Start Now’. The singer released ‘Future Nostalgia (The Moonlight Addition)’ in 2021, which saw six new tracks added to her 2020 album.
The singer is streamed the most in Mexico City, London, Santiago, São Paolo and Sydney.
4. Harry Styles
Of course Harry Styles was going to make an appearance on this list, as the ‘Lights Up’ singer brings in over 71 million listeners every month on Spotify. Harry Styles has four songs in the billions club, including ‘Sign Of The Times’, ‘Watermelon Sugar’, ‘Adore You’ and ‘As It Was’.
Harry Styles is streamed the most in London, Mexico City, Jakarta, São Paolo and Santiago.
3. Justin Bieber
With ten entries in the billions club, it’s no surprise that Justin Bieber makes his way onto the list. The Canadian singer is well known for songs such as ”Peaches’, ‘Stay’ with The Kid LAROI and ‘Sorry’.
The cities that stream the singer the most are Jakarta, London, Sydney, São Paolo and Mexico City.
2. The Weeknd
The Weeknd sits second on the list, with over 76 million listeners a month. The singer has eight songs with over one billion streams, including: ‘The Hills’, ‘Starboy’, ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, ‘Save Your Tears’ and ‘Blinding Lights’, which is the second most streamed song on Spotify.
The singer is streamed the most in Mexico City, London, Los Angeles, Santiago and Chicago.
1. Ed Sheeran
The ‘Bad Habits’ singer tops the list with an incredible 81,549,720 listeners. The singer-songwriter also holds another record, as his 2017 single ‘Shape Of You’ is the song with the most streams on the platform to date. The song has over a whopping 3 billion streams on the platform.
His top streaming cities are London, Amsterdam, Sydney, Mexico City and São Paolo.
