Joel Corry has been confirmed to be performing alongside Tom Grennan on this week’s Strictly Come Dancing Results Show. But who is Joel Corry ahead of his performance?
After releasing a new single with Tom Grennan, the DJ will be performing a rendition of the song on Sunday night’s Strictly Results. It’s not known whether it will be the original, or the special version made in support of the England football squad as they compete in the World Cup.
Who is Joel Corry?
Joel Corry is a 33-year-old DJ, TV personality and producer. He first rose to fame after appearing on Geordie Shore alongside his then-girlfriend, Sophie Kasaei, until 2013. As well as his success in the TV and music industry, he also has a personal training business with a gym and leisurewear company.
Joel released his debut singles, Back Again and Light It Up, in 2017. However, it wasn’t until he released Sorry with Hayley May that he saw real success. In July 2019, the song was featured on Love Island and became the most Shazamed song with 41,000 Shazams. It later reached number 6 in the UK singles chart.
In July 2020, Joel achieved his first UK number 1 with Head & Heart, a collaboration with MNEK. It stayed in the top spot for six consecutive weeks and got platinum certification. The song became an international hit and was number 1 in Belgium, Australia and the Netherlands.
Joel spoke to Celeb Mix about his aspirations to be a musician:
“Making music and being a part of this industry has been my dream since I was really young. I’ve always believed that success comes from hard work, and to be a success in life you have to commit 110% to what you’re doing!”
Joel Corry Is Going On Tour
Just last week, Joel took to Instagram to announce his UK tour coming next year.
Joel will be touring next March and April all around the UK. The show promises to be a party with all of Joel’s biggest hits. Tickets are still available, so nab yourself one if you’re interested.
The Strictly Results Show
Joel will be performing in the musical interlude of Sunday’s Strictly Come Dancing Results Show with Tom Grennan. The two will be giving fans a rendition of their new single Lionheart. Though the two will be looking forward to performing, it will mean another of the celebrities will be leaving the competition.
Last week, Tyler West left after being in the bottom two with Molly Rainford. The young actress will have something extra to prove this week to keep her in the competition. Fleur East, on the other hand, will be elated with her perfect score from Blackpool. Will she be able to do it again?
Kym Marsh is, unfortunately, unable to perform this week after testing positive for covid. She will rejoin the remaining celebrities in week 11.
With the final on all the celebrities’ minds, the competition is really hotting up and there’s no room for mistakes.
Catch the performance on BBC 1 on Sunday, November 27 at 6 pm.
