The writers of the highly-anticipated Deadpool 3 have promised fans the movie will be R-rated and not ‘Disneyfied’.
In a recent interview with Den of Geek the Deadpool writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have promised fans ‘Deadpool is gonna be Deadpool’.
Fans Worry About ‘Disneyfication’
In 2019 when Disney purchased Fox it meant they now owned all Marvel characters, including Deadpool, who was brought to life on screen by Ryan Reynolds first in 2016 – yes, we’re definitely overlooking his appearance in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie as even Reynolds has voiced his regrets on that one.
This caused fans to worry any movies that would previously be R-rated would have to go under a certain level of ‘Disneyfication’ and would mean films would have to tone it down or become more family-friendly.
No need to worry
However, the writers – who were not initially on board for the third instalment – reassured fans ”Deadpool is gonna be Deadpool’.

‘Don’t worry about that,’ said Reese when asked about the movie getting ‘Disney treatment’.
He continued: ‘They’ve been very supportive with regard to that. Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke.’
‘But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing because obviously, we were doing it separate from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success. So hopefully it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support, and that’s a great thing to feel.’
Having the ‘band back together’
In fact, the writers said being a part of the Disney family means the team have more characters, villains and other Marvel ‘backdrops’ to work with due to the new ownership bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) altogether.
Speaking about the merger Reese said: ‘It’s a thrill. It’s an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing.
‘You know, it’s never a marriage we necessarily saw coming, Fox and Disney, that was an external thing [apart] from our storytelling process. But we’re absolutely finding the serendipity and the gold in that situation, or we’re trying to.’
