AI Song Generators Let You Make Your Own Music

Add as preferred source on Google

AI has taken over a lot of aspects of our lives ever since it exploded last year. Now, big companies have the tech for people to create their own songs, but issues stand in their way. For now, there are AI song generators that let you control the music, lyrics and more.

Many people have discovered just how beneficial artificial intelligence can be to their academic or creative lives. ChatGPT has revolutionized essay writing at universities, for better or worse, and there have been concepts about the impact of AI on artists. Well, that’s now extended to musicians, as tech has been developed by Google to create songs from a prompt using MusicLML. However, it’s possible the public will never get to use it.

Don’t worry; though less advanced, there are ways to get playlists of AI-generated songs with a few simple clicks.

Google’s MusicLM Faces Issues

Unveiled at the beginning of 2023, Google had plans for, essentially, an audio version of ChatGPT.

Though similar AI song generators had been developed before, this was the most abled and advanced version, showing promising outcomes.

According to reports, developers had the artificial intelligence listen and learn from almost 300,000 hours of music. From that model, it was also trained to link music to descriptions. Experts then got involved, writing prompts for MusicLM, using genre, captions and more. After testing, it was found that Google’s development outperformed similar AI systems and produced music that much more closely resembled natural music. However, there is still some way to go until a conceiving ai singing voice comes about.

The issue at the moment is misappropriation. Already we’ve seen that AI can be used for the wrong reasons, and that applies here. If people can recreate songs using a prompt, then that opens up a whole can of worms. So, for the time being, MusicLM isn’t available to the public. If this can’t be addressed, then it may never be.

Here Are Some AI Song Generators You Can Use

Whilst it’s definitely not as sophisticated as Google or lets you do quite as much, there are still ways for you to make your own music playlists. This, however, uses royalty-free music to find just what you’re after, so there are no licensing issues.

A word of warning, the ones that actually take a prompt and create a ‘proper’ song require you to at least have an account, with some even needing a subscription for the full package.

First off, you can use Soundraw’s AI Music Generator. Though this site won’t create music from scratch, you do have some control over what you receive. You’ll enter the length of the song you want and the tempo. After that, there’s a choice of picking a mood, genre or theme. Once you’ve made your choice, you’ll be given a playlist of royalty-free music that’s tailored to your choices. This is super helpful to anyone that’s working on a university or passion project and doesn’t know where to start with free music.

There are a few sites that do the same thing, asking for a prompt and some other details to produce a completely original song. However, these are the ones that at least ask you to sign in. One example is Melobytes, a site where you can see what will be asked of you before deciding to join. To create the song, you’ll need to enter a style, tempo, language, lyrics and more. Luckily, you can just randomise each box and complete lyrics with AI if you don’t want to put the work in. Though sites like this are fun, the music they make isn’t the best, so don’t think you’ll come out with an instant number one. Laugh at the AI lyrics generator, however, or be inspired by it…just make a few adjustments.

Though what they create won’t make you the latest Calvin Harris or Taylor Swift, it’s definitely a lot of fun.
