Glastonbury 2022 drew to a close on Sunday for another year. Icons such as Kacey Musgraves, Kendrick Lamar and Lorde all took to Worthy farm to perform for thousands of festival goers.
Here are all the biggest moments from Sunday at the festival.
Who performed?
Kacey Musgraves
Kacey Musgraves took to the Other Stage on Sunday evening to perform an electric setlist full of bops. The singer rocked a sequin dress and a pair of black Hunter wellies – a fit perfect for festival season. The country superstar opened with ‘star-crossed’, the single which shares the same title as her 2021 divorce album, and followed with hits such as ‘breadwinner’, ‘Butterflies’ and ‘High Horse’.
‘I see your cowboy hats!’ Musgraves says to the sea of fluffy cowboy hats in the crowd. The singer spoke about the current political situation in the US following the overturning of Roe v Wade. ‘We’re far from the Simple Times y’all’, the singer said during her song that shares the same title.
‘Honestly I’m thinking about never going back to America, anyone know anyone with positions for sheep farming? That sounds really good right now.’ Kacey joked during her set.
‘It’s a scary time to be an American right now’, the singer confessed, ‘it’s been great to see you guys speaking up for us too,’ she added. Kacey later went on to dedicate ‘Rainbow’ those affected by the recent decision by the Supreme Court.
The country singer closed her set with her 2018 classic ‘Slow Burn’ which was a favourite amongst those in the crowd.
Lorde
The Kiwi songstress took to the Pyramid stage Sunday evening, as she debuted her new blonde hair. The singer opened her set with ‘The Path’, from her recent album ‘Solar Power’. Lorde went on to surprise fans by bringing out Clairo and Arlo Parks to perform a heavenly rendition of ‘Stoned At The Nail Salon’. The three delivered perfect harmonies, leaving fans in awe.
Lorde catered for all fans in the crowd, as she introduced her 2013 song ‘Ribs’.
‘Glastonbury, I wrote this song when I was 15-years-old, which means that some of you might have been listening to it for almost 10 years. Should we dance for our angsty 15-year-old selves tonight?’ The singer screamed, sending fans into a frenzy.
George Ezra
After days of speculation, George Ezra played a secret set on the John Peel stage. The singer took to Twitter to confirm his performance: ‘SURPRISE! Glastonbury see you 2pm for a big old party’. He took to the stage in a denim jacket with ‘Gold Rush Kid’ plastered on the back – the title of his recent album, and opened with ‘Anyone For You (Tiger Lily)’.
His set included material from each of his albums, including ‘Cassy O’, ‘Shotgun’ and ‘Green Green Grass’. The fan favourite was by far ‘Budapest’, as the crowd screamed the words back at the singer at an ear-piercing volume.
Kendrick Lamar
As the final headliner of the weekend, Kendrick Lamar took to the stage for his debut Glastonbury in a white blouse and a crown of thorns and diamonds. The rapper performed hits such as ‘Swimming Pools’, ‘HUMBLE’ and ‘DNA’ surrounded by a sea of dancers.
Fake blood poured down the rappers face at the end of his set, as he repeated: ‘They judge me, they judge Christ. Godspeed for women’s rights’, before abruptly leaving the stage. The rapper’s set was highly anticipated since the announcement back in 2020.
