Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie is set to have a star-studded cast including; Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, and Emma Mackey and here’s all we know about it.
It was announced back in 2021 Gosling and Robbie would be taking on the roles of Ken and Barbie, respectively, as Gerwig directs.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Barbie has been on the big screen Mattel has allowed a string of themed animated movies and even television shows – but with Gerwig it’s safe to say this version is likely to be very, very, different than your typical doll movie.
Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but we do know production has started on the project with a script written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach. Robbie isn’t only playing the titular role, she’s producing the film under her LuckyChap Entertainment production banner along with LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley.
One thing that has been tipped by The Hollywood Reporter is Ferrell is said to be be playing the CEO of a toy company that may or not be Mattel – the company that gave birth to the iconic doll 63-years-ago in 1959.
Who will star in the movie?
The cast has been confirmed to be as epic and varied as Barbie’s string of careers. Alongside Gosling and Robbie America Ferrara (The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants), Kate McKinnon (Ghostbusters), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings), Ariana Greenblatt (Awake), Alexandra Shipp (Tick… Tick… BOOM!), Issa Rae (Little), Michael Cera (Superbad), and Hari Nef (Assassination Nation), have all been cast.
One recently added cast member is Emma Mackey, known for her role in the Netflix hit Sex Education, but fans can’t help make the comparison between her and Robbie.
Also, according to Deadline, sources said Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Ncuti Gatwa, Oscar winner Emerald Fennell, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Connor Swindells, Ritu Arya and Jamie Demetriou have joined a cast.
