Are Snapchat’s Snap Games Gone?

Add as preferred source on Google

Fans of Snapchat have been disappointed to find out that the app’s games feature disappeared on February 1. While the app is mostly known for its filters, lenses and automatic message deletion, many also log on to play a number of minigames. However, the games feature appears to not be currently available. Many are left wondering whether the change is temporary, or if Snapchat is getting rid of the feature for good. While Snapchat has not released any statements on the situation so far, here is everything we know about the snap games being gone.

Are Snap Games Gone?

It appears that the games are no longer available for a wide range of users. Snap Games have been on the app since 2019, which made them a long-standing feature. If they are gone permanently, this would mark quite a significant change for Snapchat from a long-standing part of their app. It wouldn’t come as a complete surprise, though. It seems Snap Games has been in financial trouble for some time now, and the business was suspended amid restructuring.

Why Would Snapchat Discontinue Games?

While the games could simply be gone for a quick bug fix, there are also a number of reasons why Snapchat would want to phase them out. Firstly, the company has hinted at getting rid of the games in the past. They could have run into technical issues with the games that weren’t worth resolving for the team. They might have found that the games were relatively unpopular compared to other features and therefore not worth keeping around. They also could be getting rid of games in order to make room in the app for a new feature of some kind.

What Can Users Do?

The situation has caused quite a bit of confusion for fans of the games feature. However, if you’re missing Endless Runner, Alphabear Hustle, Tiny Royale, Snake Squad, Bitmoji Party, CATS Drift Racing, or any of the other Snapchat games, you are not the only one. You can stay up to date on the situation by seeing what other users are saying on Twitter. It also doesn’t hurt to update and/or restart your app to ensure it’s working as intended. However, there does not appear to be a way to fix the issue as it currently stands, since it seems to be a conscious decision on the part of Snapchat rather than a bug.
