The days of the Christmas hot chocolates and coffees are behind us, leaving a caffeine-shaped hole in our hearts. Alas, both Costa and Starbucks are introducing new drinks on their menu, helping us transition from warming winter beverages to refreshing spring drinks.
We’re all missing praline hot chocolates or chocolate orange lattes after they made their brief appearance over the Christmas period. Luckily, the two big coffee chains aren’t leaving us without something tasty for long as they both introduce new drinks on their menus. Take a look at what may tempt you, and possibly even become your new favourite for winter day treats.
New Drinks Coming To Costa With Rolo
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Costa has teamed up with one of the nation’s favourite chocolatey treats — Rolos.
You’ll have to be quick, the new drinks the coffee giant is introducing are limited-edition; we can tell they’re going to be popular. First, we have the Rolo Chocolate Caramel Hot Chocolate & Light Dairy Swirl. This will be topped with caramel sauce plus a mini pack of Rolos on the side. Seriously yummy for getting us through the last cold days before spring hits.
If you’ve had enough warm drinks for a lifetime over the last couple of months, then the new drinks coming to Costa have you covered too. Introducing the Rolo Chocolate Caramel Milk Shake & Light Dairy Swirl, essentially a milkshake made with Rolos with that same caramel drizzle and pack of Rolos. Both sound delicious, we’re just hoping it warms up a little to enjoy the milkshake without freezing fingers!
If getting into a Costa is tricky, then you can even pick up a Rolo Hot Chocolate at Costa Express machines whilst getting petrol or picking up a meal deal.
We’re not surprised if your mouth is already watering, after all, who doesn’t like a Rolo? Exactly. However, you’ll have to be quick as the new drinks are limited edition; coming to Costa today (February 2) until February 15. If you do miss out, then the Costa Rolo Hot Chocolate at the express machines will be around til March 8.
New Drinks Coming To Starbucks With Salted Pretzel
Like many things in life, you’re loyal to one brand over another. So, if Starbucks floats your coffee boat more than Costa, then they have some new drinks for you too. Mixing the sweet and the salty, Starbucks have two new drinks they’re combining with the new flavour for Valentine’s Day.
First off is the Salted Pretzel Hot Chocolate. This is their usual blend combined with pretzel powder and topped with chocolate whipped cream; you even get a sprinkling of pretzel pieces. A Grande serving is 338 calories but will cost you a pricey £5.10, so it’s definitely not a treat on the wallet.
The second of Starbucks‘ new drinks with the salted pretzel flavour is a frappucino, perfect for cold drink lovers. This drink is the same as the hot chocolate but with their frappuccino blend. A Grande is 335 calories and comes slightly cheaper at £4.90.
Starbucks doesn’t say that these drinks are limited edition, but we would be surprised if they stuck around forever. If you’re tempted by either one, we suggest getting your order in asap seeing as they’re out already. Currently, both new drinks are sold nationwide, however, they are subject to availability.
