Sometimes, instead of just heading out for a club night, you want to sit and chat in a bar, have a few cocktails, then get up and start dancing a bit later in the evening.
Instead of having to change from a bar to a club, the merging of the two has become a very popular thing in Cardiff.
Many places will start as a seated bar and then, as the clock strikes 11, the DJ appears from nowhere and gets the tunes on.
This is especially the case for the three bars I’ve selected below. They are all a really good night out to start with earlier on in the evening, while you can then stay through the night to fulfil your going-out need.
Heidi’s
This is an après ski-themed bar, filled with people dressed in lederhosen’s, bar staff who dance on the tables, and massive amounts of beer.
A fun difference for this location is that you, too, can stand on the tables and chairs and dance away the night.
Word of warning, if you do have one too many and end up falling, this is when you may be escorted out. So, make sure you are stable enough to be getting up to dance. This has a club upstairs, and a bar downstairs, and will be a good night out without a doubt.

Misfits
Misfits is a very popular destination on Friday and is a bar with an amazing vibe, a DJ playing throughout the evening, with cheap drinks and shots.
Their cocktails include some bucket concoctions. So, if mixing is your ‘go-to’ for a night out, this bucket drink will be right up your street. It is located in the heart of Cathays, and is a popular student choice on a Friday evening.
Boom Battle Bar
This bar is right in the middle of Cardiff centre and is filled with arcade games, mini-golf and, of course, a bar that turns into a club.
This is always busy and filled with people who enjoy these classic games.
Although the games are slightly on the pricey side, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the music is always filled with classic choices that everyone will know.
