Summer is finally here! School is out, the sun is beating down and you can sit back and relax without all those pesky assessments lingering over you. You can spend this time as you like, you’ve earned it. If you are short on ideas of how to properly spend this free summertime you now have, here are some ideas to help you unwind and leave the stresses of school behind.

Get Creative

Getting creative in any aspect will keep your mind active in a different way than schoolwork does. Being creative encompasses a multitude of things, so you need to find the thing that works for you. This could be drawing, writing a song, painting, pottery or something different.

The beauty of creativity that you do for yourself is that it doesn’t have to be pristine. You can mess about with your creations and just have fun. No need for expectations of amazing art, just make sure you are having fun.

You could even sign up to some classes and meet new people who share your love of a particular creative outlet.

Find A New Hobby

If you are getting bored with your current hobbies, why not take this time to find a new love? There are thousands of exciting new possibilities out there for you. From thrilling sports to new languages, an interesting new skill like cooking or pottery, there is so much for you to choose from.

Whatever you choose, there will be a YouTube guide on how to perfect it. If you want a hands-on approach, find a local class or course that you can join.

Have A Picnic

When the sun is out, there is nothing better than a good picnic. Buy your favourite snacks, grab a comfy blanket and meet your friends out on a gorgeous field.

A picnic allows you to get out in the fresh air and away from your phone, making connections with those around you whilst eating some great food.

Beach Trip

Dig out your bucket and spade and take a trip to your local beach. A beach day can be whatever you make it. Whether you make it a sports day, a relaxing book reading session, or you bring your goggles and take on the waves, you can have a blast at the beach.

You can also bring your picnic to the beach! And get an ice cream too; let loose.

Do Nothing

Sometimes the best way to unwind is to literally do nothing. Sit at home and just relax in the best way you know how. Whether that is having a long bath, a film day in your pyjamas, reading or just staying in bed all day. No obligations. No time countdown. Just a whole day of doing whatever the heck you want.

Of course, you can’t do this every day, or else it will become a problem. But after your hard work this school year, you can afford to schedule in some days of nothingness.
