Best Viral Moments From The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Molly Raby September 22, 2022

The Tonight Show has been a staple in American late-night TV for decades, so when SNL alumni Jimmy Fallon took over, a lot of viral moments were born.

But in almost nine years of his hosting, Fallon has produced some of the funniest sketches and moments to come out of late-night television.

The Tonight Show’s Best Viral Moments:

‘Ew!’

Fallon is a chat show host who isn’t afraid to have a real laugh. Even if it is at himself. One recurring character Fallon plays is ’Sara (S-A-R-A with no H, because H’s are EW!)’.

Whilst playing young Sara, Fallon’s guests also play along, making for some hilarious sketches that give SNL a run for their money.

Some of the best Ew! moments include Zac Efron, John Cena, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

JLo’s ‘Tight Pants’

Another long-standing sketch on The Tonight Show is Fallon’s ’Tight Pants’. Despite saying that he is the ‘only one in town who’s wearing tight pants’, Fallon’s bowl-cut wig-wearing character is always somehow met by another person in tight pants.

Christina Aguilera and Will Ferrell have been in such sketches, but the most popular one came in 2014 when American legend Jennifer Lopez stepped onto the block in her tighter pants.

JLo’s version of this sketch has 45 million views on YouTube.

Emma Stone’s Lip-Sync

Everyone loves a good lip-sync. So, it was no surprise when Fallon began his own lip-sync battles with the guests on his show.

Some notable performances have been by Paul Rudd, Stephen Merchant and even Melissa McCarthy whose rendition of ‘Colours Of The Wind’ stands the test of time.

But, in 2014, actress Emma Stone took to the mic and performed ‘Hook’ by Blues Traveler and ultimately won the battle with ‘All I Do Is Win’ by DJ Khaled.

You can watch the performance here.

‘Evolution Of Mom Dancing’

In 2013, Fallon and former First Lady, Michelle Obama (who was in Office at the time) showed us all the evolution of ‘Mom dancing’.

This was always going to be a great skit, but the fact that Obama was so willing and on board with it is just the cherry on top.

The duo performed dances such as ‘Go Shopping, Get Groceries’, ’The Hip Bump’ and ‘Just The Hands Part Of Single Ladies’.

This video currently has 27 million views on YouTube.
